If you’ve read my book The Love Yourself Dare, you’re familiar with the story of my wedding dress overhaul. It was incredibly symbolic, and I didn’t realize until after the dust of my first marriage and the glitter of the win had settled just how symbolic the transformation of that dress was.
I won’t go into the story here (you can read that in my book), but I wanted to share images so you’d have a visual to go with the story.
Here is my wedding gown from the early 90’s, poofy sleeves and all! Yikes!
I found a pattern and cut the dress up (ignore the watermark, that was an old website I had almost a decade ago) and began the process of transformation. Below is the finished dress on stage the night I competed in the pageant. Seriously, you HAVE to read about (or have me come speak about) how crazy that night was! Everything that could go wrong went wrong! To me, it was an incredible testament to the power of how releasing our negative beliefs and being filled with love can override all the expectations and stereotypes of a situation.
