Painting Progress # 2
I got stalled on painting because. . . well, life. But I finally painted the next few exercises in the book, which began working in color. And let me say: It has been a bit of a challenge! My first attempt was the pear on the left–bright, bold, clear colors that I didn’t really love. I decided to try this painting again and was much happier with the color, as I was able to express more muted tones and a softer overall painting and background (right), which is more my vibe.

The next painting was a plum. This one took me a little bit, but I got through it! I am working with a super limited palette of colors right now, so figuring out how to get all the purples was a good exercise!

Next was a peach and peach slices. Followed by a lemon and strawberry.

I’m notice that I’m still painting very neatly–probably from back in the day when I painted acrylic on wood. I don’t know what my style will actually end up being. Perhaps it will stay very “neat” like this, or get more painterly as time goes on. It will be fun to discover my style as I progress! Painting still intimidates me, but I’m showing up to practice–and that’s what matters.
