October Garden Photography

The gardening season is winding down, the cold has set in. It’s time to say goodbye to the growing season and enter the season of rest, rejuvenation, and celebration. I took a few images from my garden just before the cold set in last week and thought I’d share them with you!

Did you know that looking at images of flowers can release endorphins and other “feel-good” chemicals like dopamine, serotonin, and oxytocin, which can lead to a sense of happiness, relaxation, and well-being?

This year we had a number of challenges with the garden, one being that many things struggled to grow like they have in years past. I’m not sure what the difference was. We also had some other personal challenges that made getting out into the garden difficult. I’ve decided that next year I will scale back a little and simplify.

One of the things we struggled with this year were pumpkins. The seeds took off right when the season began, but then they just lost their oomph and we had very few leaves and the pumpkins stayed small. We also got very few of them. This image is it. You can never tell what each year is going to bring!

Do you garden? If so, how has your garden been this year?
