My Story. . .
I grew up in Northern California, but my granddaddy grew up in Tennessee writing songs, playing guitar, and singing country music with his band. My Aunt, on the other side of the family, sang in Hollywood and her husband (my uncle) played piano for some of the top jazz bands of the day, so I guess you could say music is in my blood. . .
My earliest memory with music is singing my own melodies and words into a little hand-held tape player in the hallway of our home when I was five, but to my mom’s dismay, my older brother later recorded over those original creations with Michael Jackson’s hit “Beat it”!
I didn’t actually start writing music until I was about 15, and from then on it would become a lifeline for me. I went through several decades of some pretty tough stuff and music helped me cope. But even though I was writing and honing my craft, I didn’t start recording my songs professionally until I was in my mid to late 40s! It’s never too late to pursue your passion!
I love how a song can say what the heart so often can’t put into words. It’s such a fulfilling process to translate emotion and experiences and put them to music. It’s a huge part of who I am. I’m a firm believer in living from the heart; It drives all of my pursuits. As a result, I write music that captures the realities and nuances of life. I hope you find something you like!
